Dr. Stephen W. Syken

V.M.D

Stephen W. Syken, V.M.D., is a 1986 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He held a Master’s in Biological Sciences from Drexel University and earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Dr. Syken served on the Executive Board of the Veterinary Medical Alumni Society at Penn from 1989-1996 and was president of the board from 1995-1996.

He has been involved with companion animal practice since 1980. His interests include preventative care, orthopedics, and mentoring new veterinarians. Dr. Syken has a Cavalier King Charles named Sophie.

Dr. Michele M. Karpovich

V.M.D

Dr. Michele graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and a Master of Science in Agricultural Biochemistry. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She has over three decades of experience as a veterinarian, working with small animals, and has been with Pennell Veterinary Clinic since 2010.

Dr. Michele enjoys medicine, focusing on dentistry, cardiology, endocrinology, and soft tissue surgeries. She has a three-year-old Blue Healer mix named Bella and a 13-year-old Hanoverian Gelding named Desi.

She enjoys traveling with her husband and family and competing in dressage competitions with Desi in her spare time.

Veterinary Technician

Linda has been with Pennell Veterinary Clinic for over 25 years. Before that, she worked in numerous local pet stores since she was 13. She enjoys working with people and animals equally.

She has a Great Dane named Tink, a 3-legged rottweiler named Hope, and a Rottie puppy named Ash. Her time away from work is full of dogs, family, grandchildren, and exploring flea markets.

Practice Manager

A U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Kevin has over 20 years of business experience in marketing, public relations, and journalism. He holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from West Chester University with a minor in Latin American Studies.

He joined Pennell Veterinary Clinic in January 2020. Kevin enjoys building long-term relationships with our clients and their pets – playing with puppies and kittens is a bonus.

He has a seven-year-old pit mix named Duke, an 8-month-old mini golden doodle named Poppy, and a cat with many names. In his free time, he enjoys dining out, traveling to out-of-the-way destinations, all Philadelphia sports, and Chelsea FC.

Lynne 

Veterinary Technician

Lynne has been with Pennell Veterinary Clinic since 2000. Over two decades here, she has enjoyed building relationships with our “awesome clients.” Lynne has two chihuahua mixes – 10-year-old Mo and 8-year-old Nugget.

Her time away from the clinic is spent with family, cooking, target shooting, reading, and crocheting.

Veterinary Technician

Sarah has been at Pennell Veterinary Clinic since 2018 and has worked at Petco for two years. Her favorite part of the job is working with the Pennell Veterinary Clinic family and being able to help animals.

She has a seven-year-old lab mix named Pepper and a pit mix puppy named Dakota River. Her hobbies include family time, hiking, and camping.

Veterinary Technician

Dan started with Pennell Veterinary Clinic in 2021 but has worked as a veterinary technician for almost two decades. He loves working with animals and interacting with his co-workers. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends and working with his hands.

Jen

Jenn

Groomer/Veterinary Technician

Jenn has been in the veterinary care/grooming industry since 1991 and has worked at Pennell Veterinary Clinic since 1995. She enjoys making fur babies more comfortable and gaining trust as they repeatedly see her.

She has four dogs, a cat, lizards, turtles, and many fish. Jenn is also a state-licensed wildlife rehabilitator and is always busy rehabilitating and releasing various critters back into the wild. Her other hobbies include modeling, bull riding, cliff jumping, quads, and dirt bikes. She also races her car nationally. Jenn is a self-described adrenaline junky.
